Biography
Brief Profile of the President Mohammad Abdul Halim Senior District and Sessions Judge, Dhaka | President, Brahmangaon Bahumukhi High School A talented son of Baro Naopara village in Louhajang upazila and currently a resident of Kanaksa, Mohammad Abdul Halim, popularly known as 'Judge Halim', is a proud alumnus of our school. He passed the SSC examination in the first division in 1986 in the Humanities department and secured first position in Louhajang upazila. His success is particularly noteworthy among the students who passed the first division in the Humanities department from our school in the post-independence period. Later, he passed the first class in the Humanities department from Louhajang College (now Government Louhajang University College) in 1988 and secured first position in the district. After that, he enrolled in the LLB (Honours) course in the Law Department of Dhaka University and obtained LLB (Honours) and LLM degrees with distinction. Later, he joined the legal profession as a member of the Bangladesh Bar Council and started his career as an assistant judge in the judiciary. Career in the judiciary Mohammad Abdul Halim has been serving as a judge since 1998. In his long judicial career, he has served in various important positions in the country. He is currently serving as a Senior District and Sessions Judge in the Anti-Terrorism Court in Dhaka. In addition to his judicial duties, he is also interested in and has contributed to the modernization of the law and judiciary, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and the development of professional skills. Higher Education and International Training Even after joining the judiciary, he has continued to pursue higher education and professional skills. He obtained a second Master's (LLM) degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, USA. He has also completed short-term training and courses in law, justice and related subjects at various international institutions including Western Sydney University, the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Austria and the Celli Institute in the Czech Republic. Contribution to Alternative Dispute Resolution Mohammad Abdul Halim is the founder and chairman of Bangladesh International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (BIMAC). The institution conducts training, professional development and various exchange programs with domestic and foreign partners to promote Alternative Dispute Resolution or ADR. At the same time, in addition to commercial services, there is an initiative to provide free ADR services to underprivileged and poor litigants. International Experience As part of his professional duties, higher education, training and various international programs, Judge Halim has traveled to various countries of the world. The countries he has visited include—Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, India, Thailand, USA, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Austria, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland. Personal life and interests In his personal life, Mohammad Abdul Halim is the father of three daughters. His children are pursuing their education. In his free time, he loves traveling, cycling, hiking and reading books. He is also interested in communicating and exchanging views with people from different walks of life.
